site.btaFull Repair of Burgas Airport Runway to Begin on November 10
A project for the full rehabilitation of the runway at Burgas Airport will begin on November 10, Fraport Twin Star Airport Management said on Tuesday.
The investment is part of the company’s long-term strategy for sustainable development and for ensuring compliance with all international safety and security standards, the concessionaire said, adding that more than EUR 50 million will be invested in the runway’s renovation. Fraport said that the infrastructure works will require a temporary closure of the airport for six months during the winter season of 2025/26. The repair is scheduled to be completed within a timeframe that will meet the requirements for year-round operations starting in 2026.
The runway was originally built in 1962 and later modernized in 1980. Its maintenance was assigned to Fraport Twin Star Airport Management with the signing of the concession agreement.
