site.btaCode Orange Alert for Heavy Rainfall Issued for Several Regions in Bulgaria
A code orange alert warning for significant rainfall has been issued for several regions of Bulgaria on Sunday by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, according to information published on the Institute’s website.
The warning applies to the regions of Pernik, Sofia Region, parts of Montana and Vidin, Kyustendil, and Sofia City.
A yellow code is in effect for the regions of Vratsa, Pleven, Lovech, parts of Montana and Vidin, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, and part of Sofia Region.
According to the weather forecast, rain will fall in many places across western and central Bulgaria, with intense and significant precipitation accompanied by thunderstorms in parts of the western regions. By the evening, rain is expected to spread to eastern Bulgaria as well.
A moderate south-southwesterly wind will continue to blow, temporarily strong north of the mountains. Maximum temperatures will range between 14°C and 19°C, and around 14°C in Sofia, the Institute said.
