North Macedonia's Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the EU-Western Balkans Summit in the Montenegrin town of Tivat, Mickoski said in his Facebook profile on Friday. Mickoski described his meeting with Macron as friendly and cordial, saying they discussed the region, key issues for the future of North Macedonia's citizens, and the country's European prospects.

"France is one of the most influential countries in Europe, so it is important to speak openly, directly and with clearly expressed expectations. Our goal is to build friendship, open doors and offer greater understanding and support. We continue to move forward with dedication and a clear goal," Mickoski wrote on Facebook.

Merz and Mickoski exchanged views on the European prospects of the region, the challenges facing the Western Balkan countries and the importance of deepening European cooperation and integration. Mickoski wrote: "Such meetings represent an opportunity to build new partnerships and strengthen ties that are important for the future of our region."

The EU-Western Balkans summit was held under the slogan "Shared Prosperity and Stability of the European Union and the Western Balkans". The forum brought together leaders of the EU and the Western Balkan countries. The forum was chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and hosted by Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic.
