A China–Bulgaria Youth Forum marking the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative opened in Sofia on Thursday, the Bulgarian government press service reported.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov emphasized that it is the young generation who are called upon to build the next generation of bridges – bridges of understanding, cooperation, and innovation.
“For thousands of years, the Silk Road has been a symbol of trade, cultural exchange, and peaceful coexistence. Today, as heirs to this rich history, you are called upon to chart a shared future. The Belt and Road Initiative gives you that opportunity,” Zafirov said.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ivan Peshev; the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports, Gabriel Valkov; and the Ambassador of China to Bulgaria, Dai Qingli.
Deputy PM Zafirov expressed hope that the forum will serve as a platform for fruitful dialogue and the exchange of ideas.
