site.btaDefence Minister Zapryanov: Navy Boats Dispatched to Flooded Elenite


Two Bulgarian Navy boats with rescue teams were sent to the resort village of Elenite at the request of local authorities, with more flood response units on standby, Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov said at a Council of Ministers briefing on Friday.
“We are monitoring the situation and, if the Ministry of Interior requests, we are ready to deploy additional forces,” Zapryanov added.
Earlier in the day, the Burgas Regional Administration told BTA that it had asked Atia Naval Base to mobilize personnel, including boats and divers, to support efforts in managing the situation in Elenite.
Also earlier in the day, Deputy Interior Minister Toni Todorov said at a briefing at the Council of Ministers that a man has died in the Elenite resort village after a heavy rainfall hit Burgas Region in Southeastern Bulgaria.
