A man died in the Elenite resort village after a heavy rainfall hit Burgas Region in Southeastern Bulgaria, Deputy Interior Minister Toni Todorov said at a briefing at the Council of Ministers on Friday.
Fire department employees found the body in the underground rooms of the victim's building. Todorov pointed out that the BG-ALERT system for the resort was activated at 11:42 a.m. on Friday, as water was expected to descend into three or four dry ravines, which would cause damage.
From Thursday midnight the Interior Ministry has received 180 reports related to the heavy rainfall. A state of emergency was declared across the territory of Tsarevo Municipality as well.
