National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova expects the draft State Budget for 2026 to be submitted on schedule, she told media in Veliko Tarnovo on Friday, according to a press release from the National Assembly’s press service.
She added that Parliament has received assurances from the government that all deadlines under the Public Finance Act will be met, enabling the country to join the Eurozone with an approved euro-denominated budget from January 1.
She observed that the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, along with forthcoming payments under the second and potentially third tranches, provides additional reasons for the budget to be drafted in accordance with EU requirements and reviewed by the National Assembly within the required timeframe.
In a meeting with Mayor Daniel Panov, she discussed the preparations for the start of the new school year and the challenges faced by the municipality in delivering an environmental project to replace polluting stoves with new, eco-friendly heating appliances. The discussion also addressed the concept of Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo submitting a joint bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2032, as Northern Bulgaria needs greater representation through various creative initiatives.
