site.btaLand Forces Neutralize Unexploded Ordnance Found in Kostinbrod and Sheynovo


Military personnel from the Land Forces neutralized unexploded ordnance found in Kostinbrod (West Bulgaria) and Sheynovo (South Bulgaria), the Ministry of Defence said on Wednesday.
A specialized team destroyed an 82mm heavily corroded mine, without a fuse and visible markings. The ordnance was discovered on Tuesday during the cleaning of a private property in Kostinbrod. The team operated under the leadership of Captain Borislav Manov. The destruction took place at the training centre Slivnitsa, with strict adherence to all safety measures.
Military personnel also neutralized a corroded 100mm round. It was also found on Tuesday in the territory of the village of Sheynovo, Kazanlak Municipality. Under the command of Senior Lieutenant Hristo Kostov, a team of four servicemen and one medical staff member secured and transported the ordnance to the training centre Lyulyak, where it was destroyed while observing all safety protocols. The servicemen acted on orders from the commander of the Land Forces, following authorization from the Chief of Defence.
According to the Defence Minisrty, in 2024, specialized teams from the Armed Forces successfully completed over 50 tasks involving the destruction of unexploded ordnance found in various settlements.
