The upcoming international regatta X-Yachts Bourgas Sailing Week, to take place on April 29 - May 3, is set to be the most significant to date. This year's event will officially launch the South Eastern European Sailing Grand Prix, a large-scale sailing series spanning four regattas across Bulgaria, Turkiye and Greece, organizers said.
X-Yachts Bourgas Sailing Week 2026 is the first stop in the new Grand Prix format, which brings together the efforts of leading clubs in the region.
Yacht Club Port Burgas is partnering with leading maritime organizations in the region, including sailing clubs in Istanbul and Tekirdag in Turkiye and Alexandroupolis in Greece. This strategic alliance between the four leading clubs aims to establish a high standard in regatta organization and to promote sporting exchange between the three countries, turning Southeastern Europe into a highly integrated sailing region.
The initiative brings together as equal partners Yacht Club Port Burgas, Istanbul Yelken Kulubu, Tekirdag Yelken Ihtisas Kulubu and the Nautical Club of Alexandroupolis.
The organizers from Yacht Club Port Burgas have also announced a new key partnership with Denmark's X-Yachts, which is supporting the event through its regional representation for Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia.
The regatta is open to the following classes: junior and youth - Optimist, ILCA 4 and 420; Olympic and international - ILCA 6, ILCA 7, 470 and Finn.
"This year's event is truly special. Thanks to the partnership with X-Yachts and the launch of the South Eastern European Sailing Grand Prix, we are not just organizing a competition, but creating a platform for international cooperation that will position Burgas and the region as a leading sailing hub in Southeastern Europe," the organizers said.
The sailing regatta is organized by Yacht Club Port Burgas with the support of Burgas Municipality and the State Enterprise Port Infrastructure.
