The European Commission (EC) in Bulgaria thanked the foreign teams helping to extinguish the fires in the country in a post on its official Facebook page on Wednesday. The post expressed gratitude to the teams from Romania, Czechia, Slovakia, Sweden, France, and Hungary, who are providing invaluable assistance in the fight against the raging wildfires.

After Bulgaria activated the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, three helicopters from Czechia, Slovakia, France and two planes from Sweden, part of the EU's air firefighting fleet, were mobilized. Two more helicopters were sent from Romania and Hungary.

The EC reported that an expert from the EU Emergency Response Coordination Centre arrived in Bulgaria to assist with operations and coordinate international assistance together with the national authorities.
