The leader of the Vazrazhdane party, Kostadin Kostadinov, is adamant that a no-confidence vote against the government will never be successful unles it is backed by a party in the ruling majority. Speaking to the press Thursday in the parliamentary lobby, he said: "We know that there is a majority consisting of GERB, Peevski’s MRF [Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning], BSP [Bulgarian Socialist Party], and TISP [There is Such a People], which is more than 121 votes. There is no other way for a no-confidence motion to go through unless one of the four parties decides that it wants to knock itself down by voting against the government."

Kostadinov was asked by reporters to comment talks on a no-confidence motion initiated by MECh.

Kostadinov explained that his party supports any vote against the government, regardless of the motives. "The purpose of the votes is to sabotage the work of the government," he said. According to him, the idea behind the vote is to show the Bulgarian government's inability to govern. Vazrazhdane’s leader added that they had asked MECh to table the vote Thursday.

The Alliance of Rights and Freedoms and MECh refuse at this stage to sign Vazrazhdane's proposal for a vote of no confidence regarding the water crisis, Kostadinov explained. He described his party as "the only opposition, while other so-called opposition parties support the cabinet and do not support Vazrazhdane’s idea to constantly table votes of no-confidence in order to hinder the work of the government".

Kostadinov also commented that it is national treason to talk about taking out a new BGN 6 billion loan for armaments, given that less than half a month ago Bulgaria issued a debt on international markets. "If this happens, we will have borrowed BGN 22 billion over a period of seven months, while our budget sets a cap of BGN 19 billion out of a total budget of BGN 70 billion," Kostadinov said, adding that Bulgaria is currently being deliberately led into bankruptcy.
