Twenty-two cars were completely destroyed in a fire that broke out in the Black Sea resort of Sveti Vlas on Wednesday, Chief Inspector Plamen Kolev, head of the fire department in Nessebar, told journalists. He added that several other vehicles were partially damaged by the flames.

According to Kolev, the fire was fully extinguished. “The entire team from the Nessebar fire brigade was on the scene. We received assistance from the neighbouring municipality of Pomorie, and the municipality of Nessebar also provided three water tankers,” he said, adding that no injuries were reported.

Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, Director of the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection in Burgas, told BTA that an on-site inspection had already begun.

The fire was reported at around 4:00 p.m., according to Pavel Kolev, Head of the Police Department in Nessebar. He stated that a total of 83 people from two nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

“Immediately after the alert was received, police units from Nessebar were dispatched. Temporary traffic arrangements were put in place to allow fire crews access to the area. Evacuation of two nearby buildings began right away. We managed to prevent the fire from spreading further,” he said.
