In a post on X, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola welcomed” the positive conclusions in the convergence report on Bulgaria's readiness to adopt the euro on January 1, 2026, the European Parliament's representation in Sofia said.

"I welcome today's decision paving the way for Bulgaria to join the Eurozone. The euro brings prosperity and stability. This is another big step forward for the people of Bulgaria and for Europe after the country's accession to Schengen," Metsola said.
