President Rumen Radev will give a welcome address for participants at the 13th National Sheep Breeders' Fair in Bulgaria, the President's press secretariat said on Saturday.
The National Sheep Breeders' Fair will run from Friday to Sunday in fields near Petropavlovski Monastery and will also highlight the preservation and development of Bulgarian crafts, traditions and folklore. The venue lies in Lyaskovets Municipality, Veliko Tarnovo Region.
Held annually near the monastery since 2011, the fair traditionally showcases achievements by Bulgarian craftsmen, farmers, livestock breeders and producers and attracts tens of thousands of visitors from across the country.
The event opened with kukeri dances, drums, 100 kaba bagpipes and a rendition of the song When I Was a Shepherd Boy, and despite heavy rain on the first day hundreds of visitors, exhibitors, producers, craftsmen, spit-roast masters, culinary specialists and amateur performers from various folklore regions gathered in the fields near the monastery.
