The central beach at Sunny Beach received the Blue Flag recognition for another year, beach management told BTA's Galya Teneva.

The beach received the award again after meeting the requirements for quality services, convenience, safety, clean seawater, environmental information, and other standards. In 2019, after a new concessionaire took over, the beach regained the award following a long pause.

Management described the Blue Flag as an important achievement, stating, "The Blue Flag is a major recognition for us, as we consistently follow the programme's high standards." Being certified under the Blue Flag programme enables all beaches to measure their management practices against international standards and encourages healthy competition among them.

Lifeguards will be on duty at all towers every day starting June 1. Security guards will watch the beach at all hours to keep tourists safe. Bright lights have been installed along the beach to ensure good visibility at night.

Sea water is tested twice a month. The beach is cleaned and disinfected regularly, and there are plenty of waste bins available. The area is also accessible for people with disabilities, with features like accessible toilets and ramps to ensure easy access.

BTA is presenting all 30 Bulgarian beaches and harbours awarded the Blue Flag by the international jury of the Programme in Copenhagen. It is the 30th anniversary of the first award for the country - the pilot Blue Flag was raised on Sunny Beach on July 4, 1995.
