site.btaParliament to Elect New Commission for Protection of Competition

The election of Chair, Deputy Chair, and members of the Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) is scheduled as the first item on Parliament’s agenda on Friday. Two candidates have been nominated to head the CPC: Rosen Karadimov, backed by the BSP – United Left coalition, and Ivan Stoynev, nominated by the Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria coalition.
During his hearing before the Economic Committee, Karadimov emphasized the preventive role of the Commission, arguing that to fulfil this function effectively, it is essential to identify key economic sectors and markets with high inflationary potential.
Stoynev, on the other hand, outlined a vision for transforming the Commission into a modern, robust, and proactive institution, capable of meeting today’s regulatory challenges.
For the positions of Deputy Chair and CPC members, GERB–UDF has nominated Radomir Cholakov as Deputy Chair. Their candidates for CPC members include Valeriya Genova, Miroslava Hristova, Emiliya Koleva, and Yuliyan Voynov.
Other nominations include:
- Dimitar Danailov, proposed by There Is Such a People
- Zhelyu Boychev, put forward by BSP – United Left
- Chetin Kazak, nominated by Democracy, Rights and Freedoms
Also on Parliament’s Friday agenda is regular Question Time, with scheduled appearances from ministers Daniel Mitov, Georg Georgiev, Ivan Ivanov, Borislav Gutsanov, Georgi Georgiev, Krasimir Valchev, Silvi Kirilov, Zhecho Stankov, Miroslav Borshosh, and Ivan Peshev.
