Acad. Hristo Grigorov was re-elected as Chair of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) for the 2025–2028 term during the organization’s General Assembly held here on Saturday.
There were no other candidates for the position of BRC chair.
Out of 85 ballots cast, 76 delegates voted in favor of Grigorov, eight voted against, and one ballot was not found. This result exceeds the two-thirds majority required, thus confirming Grigorov’s election as BRC Chair, announced Dr. Valentin Peev, who presided over the session.
“A big thank you for the trust. I assure you that the next four years will continue to be years of unity,” said Grigorov following his re-election. He added: “Thanks to the 76 delegates. The eight who voted against are a sign that there are things we need to improve — and we will. Together, we will continue forward.” Grigorov pledged continued efforts to ensure the organization remains independent, financially stable, and capable of helping people.
Three candidates were nominated for the three deputy chair positions of the BRC. Zdravko Marinov, Valentin Peev, and Stoycho Stoychev were elected. The BRC also elected a 14-member National Council.
