Addressing a Vazrazhdane election campaign event in Botevgrad on Monday, party leader Kostadin Kostadinov said that the stationing of a NATO multinational division headquarters and a multinational Black Sea headquarters on Bulgarian territory makes Bulgaria a potential nuclear target, Vazrazhdane said in a press release.

According to Kostadinov, anyone who has served in the military as a missileman knows that the first task of a missileman is to eliminate the enemy's command posts by firing a nuclear warhead at them. "Building a NATO headquarters in Bulgaria makes us a nuclear target," he argued.

His comment came as a response to a Vazrazhdane supporter who earlier in the day had read in the media that Bulgaria had proposed the establishment of such a headquarters on its territory, as stated in a speech at NATO Parliamentary Assembly's Spring Session in Sofia by Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov.
