"For the 13th time, we gather in Koprivshtitsa, in the foothills of the mountains, to hear the beautiful Bulgarian folk song, to admire the splendid traditional costumes, the embroidery, and the talent of men and women, girls and boys of all ages," Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova said on Sunday at the closing of the 13th National Festival of Folk Art in Koprivshtitsa.
Kiselova recalled that the festival, founded 60 years ago by enthusiasts to safeguard folklore’s beauty and vitality, has been held every five years and was added to UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage list in 2016. She thanked the mayor of Koprivshtitsa for her commitment, noting the festival’s nine stages offering opportunities for performers.
She wished everyone health and urged them to keep the tradition alive.
