Bulgarian Navy Launches Black Sea 2026 Tactical Exercise

The Bulgarian Navy has launched the tactical exercise Black Sea 2026, which is being conducted in Bulgaria’s national maritime spaces from June 8 to June 12, 2026, the Defence Ministry's press service said on Monday. The exercise is commanded by Flotilla Commander Rear Admiral Radko Penev.

The exercise aims to enhance the capabilities of the flotilla's headquarters and forces in planning, preparing and conducting tactical operations within the framework of a mission to safeguard maritime sovereignty.

According to the ministry, the exercise involves combat and auxiliary vessels from the flotilla stationed at the naval bases in Burgas and Varna, as well as personnel and assets from other units of the Bulgarian Navy.
