site.btaSofia Mayor Terziev Supports Caretaker Finance Minister Nominee from Sofia City Hall, Temporarily Assumes His Functions

Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev expressed his support for the decision of his deputy in charge of finance and healthcare, Georgi Klisurski, to accept the post of Minister of Finance in the caretaker government of Andrey Gurov, Sofia municipality announced on Wednesday. Terziev is temporarily taking over Klisurski's functions in the City Hall. 

Klisurski has served as Deputy Mayor since September 10, 2025.

"Being part of a caretaker government or heading one is never a matter of personal ambition. It is a matter of duty to the country," Terziev said. 
 
The mayor pointed out that in recent years the two of them have worked side by side in managing Sofia's finances - in an environment Terziev described as one of "limited resources, serious pressure and a heavy legacy". "I know his professional standard, his demands on himself and his attention to every lev of public resources. I also know his ability to stand up for decisions when he is convinced that they are right," said Terziev. 
 
According to the Mayor, putting together a working management team is always a serious challenge, and an even greater one when it has to be done in a short period of time. "I am convinced that Georgi Klisurski will be a stable, competent and honest addition to the office team," the mayor added. 
 
Earlier on Wednesday, the candidate for caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov presented the composition of the government to President Iliana Iotova.
