Commemoration of Vasil Levski should be a personal experience for every Bulgarian, There Is Such a People Floor Leader Toshko Yordanov said here Wednesday.

Yordanov spoke on the occasion of the 153rd anniversary of Levski’s death. 

Yordanov expressed his discontent with some fellow MPs’ speeches paying tribute to Bulgaria’s national hero. He said that even though Bulgaria has adopted the Gregorian calendar, some holidays are celebrated in accordance with the Julian calendar still – for example Easter, and that “imposing one date of commemoration or another by force is an act of state violence”.

Yordanov said that February 19 has been recognized as a national holiday to commemorate the mission of Vasil Levski, and that he (Yordanov) will be paying tribute tomorrow by himself.
