Ivan Hristanov took over the post of Agriculture Minister, stating clearly his priorities: providing adequate support for the sector, ensuring proper conditions for fair elections, combating corruption and theft, closing all channels for the misuse of public resources, and building sustainable policies that guarantee security and predictability for Bulgarian farmers and society, the Ministry reported.
During the handover of power, the importance of continuity in working with industry organizations and administrative readiness for upcoming payments to farmers and the start of the direct payments campaign was stressed.
Upon taking office, Hristanov said that the Ministry would no longer be a bystander. “Under my leadership, we will rewrite the definition of a functioning ministry in action. We will shed light on every scheme that has exploited the labour of honest people. There will be real state oversight, true transparency, and zero tolerance for abuse,” he said.
According to him, a truly functioning ministry means being present on the ground, prioritizing prevention over reaction, and making decisions in the public interest rather than for political convenience.
Hristanov expressed readiness for consistent actions aimed at stabilizing the system, restoring trust, and reinforcing state authority in one of the country’s strategic sectors.
