site.btaEuropean Prosecutors' Indictment against Varna's Former Mayor Portnih Triggers Sofia City Court Case

The Sofia City Court has initiated a case, acting on an indictment filed earlier on Monday by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) against former Varna mayor Ivan Portnih, BTA learnt from the press centre of the Court.

A judge-rapporteur has already been designated for the case, and its examination will be scheduled shortly. 

Earlier in the day, the EPPO said it had indicted Portnih, former Varna regional governor Stoyan Pasev and two public officials of the Executive Agency Maritime Administration for fraud relating to the reconstruction of a fishing port that did not exist.
