Conference to Found Alliance for Rights and Freedoms as New Political Party Held in Sofia

The founding conference of the new political party Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (ARF) opened in Sofia on Saturday. Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Honorary President Ahmed Dogan was among the attendees of the event.

Deputy Chair of the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms parliamentary group Taner Ali, who opened the meeting, described the moment as historic for the founders, the community, and the country. He said that the events following July 3, 2024, were among the reasons for the creation of the new formation, which is based on the values "fundamental to Mr Ahmed Dogan, when he founded the MRF".

On July 3, 2024, two in three MRF MPs defied Dogan's advice to oppose GERB-UDF's Cabinet, which ultimately led to the party splitting into two factions.

On Saturday, Ali thanked the founders of the new party for their solidarity and unity. He also expressed gratitude to Dogan for his role as "guarantor of the ideology, values, and spirituality" around which the new party is united.
