site.btaGovernment Approves Draft Memorandum of Understanding between Bulgaria and Norway under Norway Grants 2021-2028

Bulgaria will receive financial assistance amounting to EUR 127,197,491 to reduce economic and social disparities within the European Economic Area, as well as strengthen bilateral relations with the donor countries, the Council of Ministers said.

Within the framework of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2021–2028, projects will be supported in the following areas:

The European Green Transition

Democracy, Rule of Law, and Human Rights

Social Inclusion and Resilience

Measures are planned under four programs:

Water Resources Sustainability; Operator: Ministry of Environment and Water; Budget: EUR 8,000,000

Innovation; Operator: Innovation Norway; Budget: EUR 30,000,000

Justice; Operator: Ministry of Justice; Budget: EUR 36,600,000

Internal Affairs; Program Operator: Ministry of Interior; Budget: EUR 25,000,000

Funds are also allocated for a Fund for Bilateral Relations at both national and program levels, as well as for technical assistance.

It is expected that the development of the programs by the designated program operators will be completed by 2026, after which the implementation of the pre-defined projects will begin and the first calls for project proposals will be announced.

The final deadline for project implementation is April 30, 2031.
