The living memory of St. Demetrius of Thessaloniki can be found wherever the Christians live, especially here in the Balkans, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil said Monday at the opening of a photo exhibition in Thessaloniki dedicated to the Holy Great-Martyr Demetrius the Myroblyte.
The exhibition is hosted at Thessaloniki’s Megaro Mousikis Concert Hall until October 20 with free admission. It is part of the events marking the 100th anniversary of the Theologia theological journal. The display features photographs of churches, icons, and frescoes dedicated to the saint from Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, and Albania.
“We are glad that Orthodox Bulgaria has contributed to the exhibition, as devotion to the Thessalonian saint and miracle-worker has always been and remains exceptionally strong in our country,” Patriarch Daniil underscored.
Attending the event were Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, and Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece. The Bulgarian delegation was led by Patriarch Daniil, accompanied by Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop and Metropolitan Gregory of Vratsa. Leaders and delegations of other autocephalous Orthodox churches were also present, along with members of the academic community.
