The University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki celebrated the 35th anniversary of INTERREG programmes in Europe, as well as the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Greek INTERREG Managing Authority in Thessaloniki.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the Managing Authority of the EU INTERREG programmes in Thessaloniki and the University of Macedonia announced a student competition for a text dedicated to the cohesion policy of the European Union, Aphrodite Lioliou from the Managing Authority told BTA.
The competition is entitled Cohesion Policy and Cross-Border Cooperation Through the Eyes of Students. The call for entries in the student competition is addressed to students from the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia and invites them to express their thoughts and expectations for the future of European cooperation, cohesion policy, and cross-border cooperation in a text of up to 1,000 words.
Student works can be academic, essayistic, political, journalistic, or critical in nature. Participation does not necessarily require demonstrating technical knowledge, but rather authentic expression, critical thinking, and a personal approach.
The deadline for submitting texts is September 30, with Lioliou specifying that the first texts were already received shortly after the end of the summer student vacation.
The awarded student works will be announced at an event in October organized by the Managing Authority of the EU INTERREG programmes in Thessaloniki. The best text will also be published in a Thessaloniki newspaper.
Greece has participated in hundreds of projects with neighboring countries, involving over 3,000 partner organizations, through which bridges of development, trust, and solidarity have been built. The Managing Authority of the EU INTERREG programmes in Thessaloniki coordinates projects under the Greece-Bulgaria, Greece-Italy, Greece-Cyprus, Greece-Albania, and Greece-North Macedonia programmes.
