On Europe Day (May 9), three cultural organizations gathered in Bucharest to celebrate the holiday with a European film co-production.
The Goethe-Institut - Bucharest, Sofia Film Fest and the Bulgarian OrasulReel Foundation partnered in organizing a special screening of the film directed by Stephan Komandarev The World is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner (2008) within the framework of this year's edition of the European Film Festival, OrasulReel chair Ivanka Shisheva told BTA.
The co-production between Bulgaria, Germany, Slovenia and Hungary was presented in the Romanian capital personally by the Bulgarian producer and director of Sofia Film Fest Stefan Kitanov.
Kitanov stressed that the emergence of this initiative in partnership with institutions such as the Goethe-Institut and official support from representatives of the Bulgarian and Romanian states.
The event was attended by Bulgarians, Romanians and foreigners, fans of Bulgarian and European cinema.
The OrasulReel Foundation started the initiative of screening Bulgarian films in Bucharest on October 30, 2024. The Foundation was established at the end of 2021 and is dedicated to exploring and preserving the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage in Bucharest and beyond and to promoting Bulgarian culture through the means of cinema and the arts.
