Cultural exchange between Bulgaria and Montenegro goes back years and will continue to do so, Minister of Culture Marian Bachev told Bulgarian media on Wednesday in the old royal capital Cetinje, where from today a street will be named after the patriarch of Bulgarian literature Ivan Vazov.
Bachev attended an official ceremony at which a plaque in Vazov's name was unveiled. Vice President Iliana Iotova was the guest of honour at the ceremony.
The Minister of Culture noted that the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra is going to perform at the Book Fair in Podgorica this week, and the National Theatre is also hosting a performance, which proves the cultural exchange between Bulgaria and Montenegro.
"The importance of this cultural dialogue, which is the best diplomacy between countries, is great. We have very good relations with Montenegro," Bachev said. "In 2028 Montenegro will be, I deeply hope, part of the European family. The projects to be done on the cultural level will be a natural way to expand the European dialogue as a whole," he added.
Later in the day, the 19th International Book and Education Fair will be officially opened with a speech by Vice President Iotova.
