Five Balkan constitutional jurisdictions discussed communication policies at a roundtable in Pristina on December 8. The event was held in the format of the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum, Bulgaria's Constitutional Court said on Friday. The discussion was titled “Challenges and Best Practices in Communicating High-Profile Constitutional Court Rulings: A Comparative Analysis.”
The meeting was initiated and hosted by the Constitutional Court of Kosovo with the support of the Council of Europe.
The chief secretaries, advisors, and media experts of the constitutional courts of Bulgaria, Turkiye, Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, and the Czech Constitutional Court, took part in the roundtable.
The Bulgarian delegation included Constitutional Court Chief Secretary Valentin Georgiev and Referent Nina Delimarinova. They shared the Court's experience and best practices in the field of communicating important decisions of interest to the public. Focus was placed on the challenges of dealing with cases of misinterpretation of court decisions in the era of digital media, and on ways to raise awareness of the work of constitutional courts.
The Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum was founded on October 27, 2023, in Sofia on the initiative of the Bulgarian Constitutional Court, with the aim of exchanging experience and good practices between constitutional jurisdictions in the Balkans on current issues in the field of constitutional justice. Its members are the constitutional courts of Bulgaria, Turkiye, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.
