On May 30, 1931, the foundation stone of the Student Home (today's National Student Home) was laid at Sofia's National Assembly Square with a solemn water blessing by Metropolitan Stefan of Sofia. The building was designed by architects Stancho Belkovski and Ivan Danchov.
