The 81st anniversary of Bulgaria’s participation in the final stage of World War II was commemorated near Stracin, in the eastern part of the Republic of North Macedonia. A priest from North Macedonia's orthodox church offered a prayer in honour of the Bulgarian soldiers who fell in combat near Strazin and Stracin in October 1944.

The Stracin-Kumanovo Operation was an offensive led by the Bulgarian Armed Forces from October 8 to November 14, 1944, resulting in more than 1,000 Bulgarian casualties.

A delegation from Bulgaria, led by Colonel Ivan Raykov, Deputy Commander of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), attended the commemoration. The delegation included servicepersons from JSOC, along with representatives of the Union of War Veterans in Bulgaria, including 100-year-old Reserve Major Todor Andonov and 99-year-old Reserve Colonel Anani Hristov, who chairs the organization, the Union of the Paratroopers of Bulgaria, the Reserve Officers and Noncommissioned Officers Union for the Republic of Bulgaria - led by retired General Zlatan Stoykov, the Union of Disabled Servicemen and War Victims - led by Emil Gudzhev, and the War Disabled Association based in Sofia. Also present were relatives and friends of veterans who took part in the operation near Stracin.

The ceremony was attended by Bulgarian Ambassador to North Macedonia Zhelyazko Radukov, members of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission, and representatives of Bulgarian community organizations in the country.
