The Bureau of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Group in the European Parliament, which serves as the group’s governing body, will hold a meeting in Bulgaria from October 1 to 3. The event in Sofia will be hosted by Bulgarian ECR Bureau member and MEP Ivaylo Valchev, representing There Is Such a People, the party said in a press release on Monday. The group will be led by its co-chairs, Nicola Procaccini (Italy) and Patryk Jaki (Poland). Discussions will focus on current issues affecting Europe and the region.
Keynote speakers at the event include Mateusz Morawiecki, who served as Poland’s Prime Minister from 2017 to 2023, and George Simion, Romanian MP and candidate in this year’s presidential elections. Both are members of the ECR political family and will attend as special guests of the ECR Bureau.
During their visit to Sofia, ECR leaders will address a range of topics, including the role of nuclear energy in Europe’s future energy mix, EU enlargement with a focus on the Western Balkans, and security and migration challenges at the EU’s external borders.
