site.btaUPDATED First Day of School Brings Excitement to Bulgarian Homes, President Radev Says

For generations, the first day of school has been a true excitement for every Bulgarian home, President Rumen Radev said at the opening of the school year at the First English Language School and Stoyan Zaimov Primary School No. 112 in Sofia.
"It is the day when our children set out on the bright path of knowledge," the head of State added.
The new 2025/2026 school year began on Monday in over 2,300 schools across the country, with around 57,000 first-graders, a total of over 716,000 students, and 95,500 teachers.
Radev said that the First English Language School and Stoyan Zaimov Primary School have established themselves as leading centres of knowledge, with strong traditions, proven teaching approaches, and broad opportunities for personal development. “I want to congratulate you on building a wonderful ecosystem, excellent coexistence between the two schools, despite their different profiles. And although the profiles differ, you share a common vision for the future. This is about nurturing not only intellectually capable but also spiritually elevated future citizens of our country,” he said.
The President also highlighted the schools’ efforts to promote the natural sciences, integrate modern technologies into the learning process, and apply innovative methods for foreign language instruction. “I want to commend you for the wide range of extracurricular activities, for student self-government, for clubs catering to different interests, and for your extensive charitable work,” Radev added.
President Radev expressed his gratitude to teachers for their dedication in this highly noble mission, for their love and care for Bulgaria’s young generation. He also thanked parents, noting that without their constructive role and support, efforts in the educational process would be in vain.
