“Let us remember the lessons of history and work tirelessly for a united, dignified and strong future for Bulgaria,” Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev said in a congratulatory message on the 140th anniversary of Bulgaria’s Unification.

“Today, in the context of global challenges and an unstable international environment, the spirit of the Unification is more relevant than ever. Unity and solidarity, both within our country and with our partners in the European Union and the international community, are the key to peace, security, and prosperity,” Georgiev stated.

He added that this day is a symbol of unity, of the will of the Bulgarian people, and of the aspiration to national dignity and independence. “The Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria with Eastern Rumelia in 1885 was the result not only of diplomatic mastery, but also of deep national consciousness and self-sacrifice. It showed the world that when Bulgarians act together for a just cause, they achieve great goals,” Georg Georgiev declared.
