Deputy Foreign Minister Nikolay Pavlov received copies of the credentials from Sri Lanka's newly appointed Ambassador to Bulgaria Tapaswarage Priyangika Dharmasena, the Ministry’s press centre reported on Thursday. The Sri Lanka Ambassador is based in Warsaw, Poland.

The two sides highlighted the long-standing relations of traditional friendship between Bulgaria and Sri Lanka and expressed readiness to enhance political dialogue and encourage direct business contacts aimed at increasing bilateral trade and deepening cooperation in priority economic sectors, including tourism, agriculture, and information technology.

They emphasized the significance of EU – Sri Lanka cooperation and expressed satisfaction with the excellent dialogue within international organizations and the mutual support for candidacies in the United Nations framework.

Dharmasena thanked Bulgaria for playing a constructive role within the EU in relation to her country.
