Vazrazhdane MP Angel Georgiev described on Thursday North Macedonia's EU accession report as not objective and unacceptable. "We demand an investigation. Let everybody be aware that this report, in this form, is a report of lobbying by the Republic of North Macedonia," he added.
On Wednesday, the EP Foreign Affairs Committee decided to delay the vote on the report, following a proposal by rapporteur Thomas Waitz. The vote in the parliamentary committee is scheduled to take place on June 24 and in the EP plenary in Strasbourg in July.
"Vazrazhdane proposed a draft declaration in the Bulgarian Parliament, which led to the adoption of the declaration last week, which passed with 194 votes in favour. On our initiative, no matter what the There Is Such a People say. You can check with the Registry, we tabled this draft decision more than a day before them. Then, again on the initiative of our MEPs, there was a meeting of all Bulgarian MEPs. They have signed a document together requesting an investigation because the report on the Republic of North Macedonia is flawed. There are significant violations, there is a regular leak of information to the Republic of North Macedonia, only to them," Georgiev said.
"North Macedonia's Prime Minister Mickoski was aware of future amendments even before they entered the report. This is what I mean by regular leaks," the Vazrazhdane MP stressed.
"We do not want this report to be postponed, but to have no report at all this year. For the time being, the report has been postponed by 20 days, thanks to all these actions we have taken," Georgiev said.
He added that all European institutions, all groups in the European Parliament, as well as their presidents have been addressed on the issue.
