Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh was the opening speaker at the ministerial panel of the World Tourism Forum Prague 2025 on Tuesday. The event is organized by the Czech government in partnership with UN Tourism and brought together leading representatives of the international tourism community to discuss challenges and opportunities for the sector on a global scale. Bulgaria was among the key countries in the ministerial panel, alongside the Czechia, UAE, France, Israel, and Colombia.
Key topics included the future of tourism in the context of the EU Tourism Agenda 2030, the integration of artificial intelligence, the role of new technologies, security of destinations, the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises, and the need to build strong connections and networks within the sector.
Borshosh presented Bulgaria’s best practices and its vision for the development of the tourism sector in alignment with global trends to the international community.
Following the official program, Borshosh held a series of bilateral meetings with key international partners from France, Israel, Ukraine, and the Czechia, including with candidates for the new Secretary-General of UN Tourism from Georgia, Mexico, Greece, and the UAE.
The discussions focused on opportunities to deepen cooperation in the areas of sustainable tourism, tourist exchange, and joint initiatives to promote travel between the countries.
The World Tourism Forum Prague 2025 took place shortly before the strategic vote for the election of the new Secretary-General of UN Tourism, scheduled for May 30 in Segovia, Spain. Bulgaria is an active member of the UN Tourism Executive Council for the 2023–2027 period with voting rights for the upcoming elections.
