“I am surprised that both the Prime Minister and the Minister [of Agriculture] continue to avoid meeting with the grain growers, which does not solve the issue, but rather escalates it,” GERB leader Boyko Borissov told journalists in Parliament on Tuesday when asked about the protesting grain growers' threat to block Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard in central Sofia.

Everything is solved with dialogue, in the interest of the people, the industry, the sectors, the industry, Borissov said.

He pointed out that there are solutions, and there are very quick actions to take, starting from the control of what enters Bulgaria. According to him, many more people should be appointed in phytosanitary control.

Responding to a question, Borissov said he was ready to be a parliamentarian to make the link between the government and the protesters. If they ask for it, we will do it, he said.

Borissov appealed to the ministers of agriculture and economy "to go and meet the people, to solve the problems". If there is a legislative need for something, we are ready, we will collect signatures, we will bring it in, we will solve it tomorrow, Borissov added.

Asked if the Movement for Rights and Freedoms is in the ruling coalition, the GERB leader replied, "In practice, yes".
