Musical posters of Bozhidar Ikonomov (1943-2016) will adorn the facade of the National Academy of Music until August 20, organizers said.

With this exhibition, called "Allegro ma non troppo", the International Triennial of the Stage Poster celebrates the artist's 80th anniversary.

Works created for various opera and ballet performances of the National Opera, operettas and rock operas from the repertoire of the Musical Theatre are on display. The seasons in which the artist worked for the National Opera are distinguished by style and unique visual identity, organizers said.

"The Triennial decided that the best way to mark this unprecedented anniversary was to continue to remind audiences of the achievements of an artist as versatile as Bozhidar Ikonomov, and to help the younger generation discover him," co-founder and board member of the International Triennial of the Stage Poster Albena Spasova said.

In her words, the exhibition is a reminder not only of a bright talent, but also of how strongly the absence of quality, artistic posters is felt in the urban environment.

Bozhidar Ikonomov (pseudonym Dari) was born on July 12, 1943 in Sofia. He was a painter, poster artist and graphic designer. He graduated from art high school in 1979, after which he was a painter at "Kultura" newspaper. He was the author of posters for dozens of theatre, opera productions and films, and one of the organizers of the Triennial of the stage poster in Sofia. Since 1979, for 13 seasons, he has worked for the Sofia Opera.

For more than 10 years he has been preparing the posters of the Apollonia summer festivals, the Salon of Arts, the New Bulgarian Music and Europalia festivals. He has had solo exhibitions in Sofia, Plovdiv, Vienna, Berlin, Algeria, Maputo, Harare, New York, Tokyo.
