site.btaInterior Ministry Has Received 576 Reports of Election Violations, 95 Detained
A total of 576 reports of violations of election legislation and citizens’ political rights have been received by the Interior Ministry, and 95 people have been detained, Deputy Interior Minister Ivan Anchev told a briefing at the Council of Ministers on Monday. The information is current as of 8.30 am.
The highest number of reports was received in Burgas - 97, followed by Sofia – 58, and Vratsa – 50, Anchev said.
Of all the reports, 514 are related to vote buying, 15 concern illegal campaigning, three involve corporate voting, and one concerns property destruction. A total of 181 pre-trial proceedings have been launched– the most in Sofia (36), Burgas (24), and Kyustendil (17), Anchev added.
A total of 1,476 warnings have been issued and 120 specialized police operations have been carried out. Ninety-five people have been detained, including 34 in Sofia and 15 in Burgas.
