site.btaDavid Linx, Acoustic Version, Petar Slavov Perform at Plovdiv Jazz Fest in Bishop Basilica
The Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis was the scene of a concert by Belgian artist David Linx and jazz duo "Acoustic Version", part of the program of the first spring edition of Plovdiv Jazz Fest. Along with double bassist Petar Slavov also performed alongside the duo.
Linx - composer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, is recognized as one of the most characteristic European voices in jazz music, Plovdiv Jazz Fest said. Since his early teens, he has been influenced by famous musicians in this genre, such as the American drummer Kenny Clarke, whom he met thanks to his godfather Nathan Davis. He has worked with musicians such as Diederik Wiesel, Paolo Frezu, Maria Joao, Clark Terry, etc.
Petar Slavov is a composer and teacher. He left Bulgaria after receiving a scholarship from Berklee College in Boston in 1999. After graduating in 2002, Slavov played and recorded with artists such as Joe Lovano, Quincy Jones, George Garzon, Paul Winter, Kevin Mahogany, Elio Villafranca, Alfredo Rodriguez and others. In 2013, Petar Slavov wrote his work “Gone” for jazz trio and chamber orchestra.
On Monday, a long-term partnership agreement for the coverage of Plovdiv Jazz Fest was signed at the BTA National Press Club in Plovdiv between the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) and Blue M, the organizer of the music forum. The document was signed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and Miroslava Katsarova, manager of Blue M.
