One person was injured in an overnight drone attack on Odesa region, the regional branch of the Ukrainian Emergency Service said on Friday.

Residential and critical infrastructure sustained damage in the attack. The strikes sparked several fires, which were quickly extinguished by firefighters.

According to the Emergency Service, rescue operations were complicated by repeated air raid alerts throughout the night. A total of 56 rescuers and 13 units of equipment were involved in dealing with the aftermath of the attack.

Bulgarians in Odesa Region number more than 150,000 and are the third largest population group in Ukraine, according to official data. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
