Alexander Krashniak finished in the top four of the men’s parallel slalom at the Snowboard Alpine World Cup in Winterberg, Germany, the final individual event of the season.

The Bulgarian snowboarder advanced through the qualifiers and then defeated Switzerland’s Dario Caviezel and Italy’s Maurizio Bormolini in the elimination rounds. He was beaten by Austria’s Christoph Karner in the semifinals. In the small final, Krashniak lost to another Austrian, Alexander Payer, and ultimately placed fourth.

This marks Krashniak’s second top-four finish, following his runner-up result in the parallel slalom in Bad Gastein, Austria, in January.

Another Bulgarian, Tervel Zamfirov, the reigning world champion in the discipline, was eliminated in the quarterfinals and finished seventh in Winterberg. Zamfirov defeated Japan’s Ryusuke Shinohara in the round of 16 before losing to Alexander Payer in the quarterfinals.

Radoslav Yankov shared 22nd place with 1:12.53 minutes and narrowly missed out on the elimination rounds, finishing just 0.24 seconds short of 16th place.

The other two Bulgarian competitors, Kristian Georgiev and Petar Gergyovski, were eliminated in the qualifiers.

South Korea’s Sangho Lee won the event after defeating Austria’s Christoph Karner in the big final.

In the women’s event, Italy’s Lucia Dalmasso claimed victory, beating Austria’s Sabine Payer in the final.
