Outgoing Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh handed over the Ministry of Tourism to Caretaker Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva, the Tourism Ministry press service said here on Thursday.

They discussed priorities for the ministry, results so far and projects to be developed, with a focus on sustainable growth in the sector, improving the business climate and promoting Bulgaria as a competitive tourist destination.

“It was an exceptional privilege to work with the team at the Ministry of Tourism and with representatives of local government and the sector. I am calm that the sector remains in the hands of a proven professional with extensive experience, who knows the challenges and the potential of Bulgarian tourism well,” Borshosh said. He added that what was achieved in 2025 was the result of joint efforts by the administration, municipalities, businesses and tourism organizations and associations.

They agreed that continuity in policy and good coordination with all stakeholders were essential for the stable, sustainable development of Bulgarian tourism.
