site.btaBiathlete Milena Todorova after Placing 14th in Sunday's 10 km Pursuit: "Saturday Was My Day"
Bulgarian biathlete Milena Todorova said that on Saturday she should have won a medal at the Olympic Games in Milan Cortina. The 28-year-old Todorova finished fourth in the 7.5-kilometre sprint and came very close to winning a medal, but in Sunday's 10-km pursuit, in which she started with Saturday's deficit, she missed three shots in the standing position and finished 14th.
"Yesterday [Saturday] was my day. I still think so today [Sunday]. In my opinion, it has to be written in the stars, and sometimes things work out in the best possible way. Sometimes fourth place is enough. I am not a person who gives up. Sometimes I make emotional decisions, but most of the time I keep going," she commented after Sunday's pursuit.
"The wind was a bit changeable today [Sunday]. I am glad I managed the prone position, because yesterday [Saturday] I think that is where I lost the medal. The wind is very important, you have to watch it very closely because it is specific. Sometimes the two flags fly in different directions and I have to judge very carefully. I am happy that I managed the prone position. Hopefully, I will do just as well in the next competitions," she added.
Todorova's next start is in the 4 x 6-km relay on February 18, together with Lora Hristova, Maria Zdravkova, and Valentina Dimitrova. "I think we can achieve a good result. The relay is a very different competition and sometimes things turn out in a completely illogical way. I think that with this team we have shown that we can achieve good rankings. And here I think we have a chance," she said.
Todorova will also participate in the mass start together with Lora Hristova on February 21.
