Tervel Zamfirov and Radoslav Yankov qualified for the round of 16 in the Parallel Giant Slalom of alpine snowboarding at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on Sunday. Bulgaria’s third competitor, Alexander Krashniak, was eliminated in the qualifying rounds on the Livigno course.

The 20-year-old Zamfirov, world champion in parallel slalom from Engadin 2025, delivered a solid performance, finishing fifth in the qualifiers with a time of 1:26.58 in his Olympic debut. He will face Germany’s Elias Huber in the round of 16 Sunday after 2:24 pm CET.

36-year-old Yankov, competing in his fourth Olympics, recorded 13th place in the qualifiers with 1:27.44 and advanced past the Winter Games qualifying rounds for only the second time in his career, after finishing 15th in Beijing 2022. In the first elimination round, he will meet Arnaud Gaudet of Canada.

21-year-old Olympic debutant Alexander Krashniak made mistakes and finished second-to-last, 31st overall, with 1:32.27.

The fastest in the qualifying rounds was Roland Fischnaller of Italy, world champion in the discipline, with a time of 1:25.13. Second place went to another Italian, Aaron March, who recorded 1:26.08, while defending Beijing 2022 champion Benjamin Karl of Austria posted the third-best time at 1:26.49.
