site.btaEC: Decisions on Bulgaria's Eurozone Accession Have Already Been Adopted, It Will Introduce Euro on January 1
The decisions regarding Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone have already been adopted and will remain in force, a spokesperson for the European Commission said Friday at a press conference in response to a question about whether a change could occur before January 1 next year due to the political situation in the country.
Asked whether there is any “technical possibility” for Bulgaria not to join the eurozone at the start of next year, or to leave after having been admitted, the spokesperson clarified that the answer is very clear: “There are certain requirements for joining the eurozone, and Bulgaria has met them. All relevant decisions have been taken, and Bulgaria is expected to introduce the euro from January 1,” the spokesperson explained.
Vazrazhdane said Friday that it will move a draft National Assembly resolution obliging the Council of Ministers to request a one-year postponement of Bulgaria's entry into the Eurozone.
