site.btaNational Literary Museum in Sofia to Celebrate 175th Anniversary of Writer Ivan Vazov on July 9

A solemn celebration of the 175th birth anniversary of writer Ivan Vazov, the patriarch of Bulgarian literature, will take place on July 9 in front of his monument in the garden of Saint Sophia Church in Sofia, the National Literary Museum said on Friday.

"We expect the keepers of Bulgaria's literary heritage, the residents and guests of the capital, to celebrate together the birth of Ivan Vazov, who dedicated his life and work to the homeland and the people," the museum emphasized.

During the solemn celebration, the winners of the National Children's and Youth Competition for Best Reciter of Ivan Vazov's Poems will be awarded.

At the Ivan Vazov House Museum in Sofia the renewed permanent exhibition on the writer's life and work will be opened as well. It is implemented with the support of the Culture Ministry.
